Question & Answers - 6. Question

Question:

Dear Madam or Sir,
I am concerned because I was "bitten" by at least 14 ticks in the Northern part of Slovenia whilst on holiday. I stupidly did not check whether I needed a vaccine before going away assuming that Europe was 'safe'. I removed them the same evening and have since had a one-off 200mg of doxycilin. Is it worth having a blood test or are there any symptoms I need to watch out for? I am sure I'm being paranoid, but would rather be cautious than not!

Thank you for your time,
N.

Answer:

Dear N.,
thank you for your request.
We would highly recommend to go again to a TBE-Specialist und check for the TBE-Virus in your blood, as Slovenia is a highly endemic area (please see endemic areas under: www.TBE-prevention.info >> News).
