Dear Madam or Sir,
I thought i had a scab behind my knee - i picked it off with my nail and realised it was a tick. I put selotape over it and made sure it was dead. I then read the internet through Google (not your site) and thought - i am heathy - so ok - no pain nothing.
question: Now its 5 days later and ifound myself scratching and area like a mosquito bite, and realise its the same area - its a littel red and swolen (now) - not greatly - shoudl i worry - shoudl I go to a doctor - I am in france on holiday!

Thank you for your request.

Normally in the U.K. and in France ticks are not infected with the virus that causes tick-borne encephalitis (TBE), so you should not be afraid of that. Nethertheless we would highly recommend to go again to a specialist und check for the TBE-Virus in your blood.

If you travel to TBE endemic regions in Europe (please see endemic areas under: www.TBE-prevention.info >> News), then you should consider a vaccination upfront.
