1. Question
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
ich war in Oberösterreich in Urlaub. Sowohl meine Tochter (6 Jahre) und auch ich wurden von einer Zecke gebissen. Geimpft sind wir beide nicht. Meine Tochter wurde schon am Anfang des Urlaubs gebissen, also vor ca. 10 Tagen. Sie hatte gleich nach dem Biss eine Angina, der Kinderarzt meinte, dies hätte mit dem Zeckenbiss nichts zu tun. Die Angina ist ausgeheilt. Heute nach 10 Tagen klagt sie schon wieder über Halsschmerzen und hat etwas Fieber. Worauf müssen wir beide achten. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass man hier in Berlin ziemlich ratlos ist, was Zeckenbisse angeht.

Dear Madam or Sir,
I thought i had a scab behind my knee - i picked it off with my nail and realised it was a tick. I put selotape over it and made sure it was dead. I then read the internet through Google (not your site) and thought - i am heathy - so ok - no pain nothing.
question: Now its 5 days later and ifound myself scratching and area like a mosquito bite, and realise its the same area - its a littel red and swolen (now) - not greatly - shoudl i worry - shoudl I go to a doctor - I am in france on holiday!

Ich hatte vor 14 Tagen einen Zeckenstich. Impfungen: Grundimmunisierung und 3 Auffrischungsimpfungen (letzte Frühjahr 2003). Auffrischung 2008 noch nicht erfolgt. Jetzt grippeähnliche Symptome. Wie lange hält Schutz bei Auffrischung? Risiko einer Erkrankung?

In 1992 I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, I have had various forms of oral antibiotic treatments including IV, none have given me a long term results. I have also in the last year have been using a Rife machine once a week with no results. I have for such long time experiencing extreme fatigue, muscle and join pain in my arms and shoulders. I’m 62 years old and my daily life is difficult in addition I have a problem sleeping because of the pain. Doctors have prescribed anti-depression drugs however I prefer not to take them as it does not cure the problem. Is there any help out there in the international medical field?

Dear Madam or Sir,
I am concerned because I was "bitten" by at least 14 ticks in the Northern part of Slovenia whilst on holiday. I stupidly did not check whether I needed a vaccine before going away assuming that Europe was 'safe'. I removed them the same evening and have since had a one-off 200mg of doxycilin. Is it worth having a blood test or are there any symptoms I need to watch out for? I am sure I'm being paranoid, but would rather be cautious than not!

I was bitten by a tick on 16th August 2008 in Svartadalen, Västmanland, Sweden. I am concerned about being infected with TBE or Lyme Disease. Please can you tell me if Lyme Disease or TBE is prevalent in this area and if so what action I should take? So far I haven't experienced any noticeable symptoms.

Hallo, waren gerade in Deutschland im Urlaub. Meine Freundin wurde von einer Zecke gebissen, welche nicht unbedingt für lange Zeit an Ihr war. Habe diese mit einer Zeckenzange fachmännisch entfernt. Keine Rötung oder lokale Infektionszeichen nach einer Woche erkennbar. Meine Freundin entwickelte mittelstarke Kopfschmerzen (3 Tage nach Zeckenbiss) und hatte für einen Tag grippeähnliche Symptome die wieder verschwunden sind.. Der mittelstarke Kopfschmerz bleibt seit 4 Tagen - das ist sehr ungewöhnlich für sie da sie nie so lange Kopfschmerzen hat. Er beschränkt sich auf den hinteren Teil des Kopfes und auch fühlt Sie sich sehr müde. Sie war gestern beim Hausarzt welcher eher ratlos vor der Sache stand. Er behandelt Sie jetzt auf Lyme (???) mit Doxycyclin fuer 2 Wochen. Sie ist stark verunsichert und weiß nicht wie sie reagieren soll. Der Zeckenbiss erfolgte in Rheinland Pfalz, wir besitzen eine Ferienhütte im Wald bei Annweiler, welches wahrscheinlich Hochrisikogebiet ist. Es wäre schön wenn Sie mir einen Tipp geben könnten wie weiter zu verfahren ist. Kein Impfschutz für FSME.
